Crosby Street Studios Flagship New York City Showroom

Co-founded in 2013 by friends and longtime design industry stalwarts Tony Mott, Jim McFadden, and Nicholas DiDonato, Crosby Street Studios is a trusted, to-the-trade source of custom luxurious carpets.  Renowned for an ethos of collaboration and exploration, the firm provides architects, designers, and developers with exclusive access to innovative and time-honored materials, technologies, and artisans from discrete sources around the globe.  A let’s-do-it dynamic and full-service research, technical, and creative capabilities allow for the creation of one-of-a-kind dream carpets.

Crosby Street Studios occupies 4,000 square feet of showroom space in the New York Design Center at 200 Lexington Avenue, where it has its flagship showroom and adjacent design atelier. The partners have worked closely with famed creative director Michael Reynolds to conceive an interior that would simultaneously serve the dual purpose of working studio and elegant stage for the kaleidoscope of color, pattern, and texture of the rugs.  Atlas Industries, a Beacon, New York-based multi-disciplinary design studio, has developed distinctive thematic elements and furnishings that combine to serve multiple functions.  These include handcrafted custom bronze display fixtures, lacquered finished shelve panels, and walls and floors painted in dark gray creating a dramatic yet neutral showcase for both full-size rugs and samples of available custom qualities. The atelier space showcases full-size rugs from the three international boutique firms that Crosby Street Studios represents, of Ariana Rugs Inc., Christopher Farr, and Lapchi as well as a selection of rugs designed by the Crosby Street Studios design team led by Design Director, Liz Guarino.

Mott, McFadden, and DiDonato share a passion for the history and culture-spanning traditions of fine, handmade carpets, as well as a deep desire to work with local artisans to translate those traditions into today’s language of design.  The three worked together previously first at A.M. Collections and later at Tai Ping Carpets. As a GoodWeave partner, the firm has invested in its commitment to ensuring best practices in the production of every rug it offers.
