For this particular group of designs the design team experimented with artistic methods like watercolor painting, dying and marbling to achieve these different effects in hand-tufted rugs.
The original artwork used to create these designs range from known methods like watercolor paintings on paper, paint markers on paper to mixing shaving cream and colored dyes to create a marbleized surface.
Crosby Street Studios then used different yarns including Merino wool, dull silk, with a range of weaving techniques like a recessed loop, loop and cut pile and tip shearing to achieve the right texture, dimension and layering effects on each rug unique to the characteristics of each of the designs.
