Crosby Street Studios has designed a capsule collection of hand-knotted custom rugs in natural, sustainable and replenishable fibers using undyed natural sunpat and hand spun and hand dyed Tibetan wool.
Many of the rugs are made in a Soumak weave with a hand spun Tibetan wool loop. Soumak weave is a tapestry technique used for making durable textiles used for rugs and bags that wraps the weft threads over four warps and back over two. The weaver may sometimes, go backward and forwards, reversing the direction of the wrapping. We love the contrast between the sunpat and the colored or natural wools giving a range of textures of the rugs from soft and cozy as in the Flurry design to dry in Amagansett Stripe.
These rugs are equally perfect for a beach house or a ski chalet with names like Hampton Stripe, Shelter Island, Stripe, Whiteout, and Flurry. The soft to the touch natural fibers are all hand woven in a color nautical color palette of cool dark navy blue and warm gray and white and can be customized in any color.
